From Here To There The Virtual Home of Jonathan Grenier

Who Am I ?

My name is Jonathan Grenier and I’ve spent the last 12 years as a software and Web developer here in Montreal, Canada. I’m current the president of Techniconseils and the VP of the Club Mac de Montréal, the local Mac User Group. Over the years, I've worked with several web agency here in the city, usually as a technical director or director of technology, including VDL2, Reeves Communication, Productions Tornade and Codency.

As a Web developer, I specialize in Ruby on Rails, PHP although over the years I’ve done a lot of different stuff ranging from .NET to Java. Since I started coding HTML in 1997 by hand for Netscape 2, I tend to do a lot by hand, but I've fallen in love with the recent frameworks like JQuery that makes things so much easier.

On the desktop, I've done many different things, includings a few projects with Qt and the KDE libs on Linux and C#/.net on Windows (including a kick ass CMS 6 years ago that was never released -- too bad, it was quite nice). Lately, being the Mac fanboy that am I, I've been concentrating on the Mac side of things. I have an iPhone app published on the iTunes Store with more coming soon as well as a Mac OS X port of that app also coming in early 2010.

In addition to my programming duties, I also manage several Linux servers for several customers and associates.

Because spending 16 hours a day programming and geeking out just wasn't enough, I'm lucky enough to be a part of the administration team for the local Mac User Group. As the VP of that company, I manage all web activities and also do a 1h+ presentation every month to demo cool software and show off my geekness.
